I’m about to get into a little rant about two of my favorite my Sailor Moon characters that get flamed way to much! Those two would be Chibiusa and Rei. Let’s start with our Sugar Pink Moon Princess, shall we?

Chibiusa

She's annoying

I hear this a lot. I well say this now! The anime makes Chibiusa seem too much more annoying that she truly is. And even with that, she has a right to be. I would like you to think about this for a moment. You’re a small girl who just came from a terrible future. Aliens have attacked your home, your parents might be gone, and you think you’re to blame. So, you run to the past in an effort to save you future with the wonderful heroine Sailor Moon, who just happens to be a spoiled, over-reacting, crybaby at the time. So, did she have a right to be a brat? The answer is yes. Chibiusa was under to much stress, pain, and fear to just keep it bottled up. For any child that is too much and sooner or later it was going to explode. In fact, for a normal child, it would have been worse. So Chibiusa seems like a GOD SENT in a way.

Now, what about after R? She’s still a brat in the anime. I well admit that. But is she annoying? Well, if she is, you’d have to say Usagi is annoying. Minako is annoying. Rei is annoying. Because lets face it, almost everyone in the DAMN ANIME IS ANNOYING at one point or another. Does that make Chibiusa bad? No. Chibiusa no matter what is a sweet, lovable, girl who is just trying to get in a place where, quite frankly, she didn’t belong.

Her Theme is Pink

So? Amy Rose’s theme is pink. Sakura’s theme is pink. Aerith’s theme is pink. People seem to be fine with that. I have no problem with that. In some pictures, Usagi herself is colored in pink. In fact, Usagi’s hair was originally supposed to be pink and her theme pink, but after a few issues, Naoko-sama changed it to gold and silver. So, if it had stayed like that, would still love her. You can’t hate on a character for her color theme, because it isn’t part of her personality. If it’s not your favorite color, big deal. If you’re mature, you can still get around it.

She's one of the weakest senshi.

Who says? Chibiusa is VERY powerful. But she’s in training. Therefore, she can not control her powers. It’s as simple as that. Just because she’s small and is not ready to wield the power she has inside doesn’t mean she’s weak. If she is, once again I’ll use Usagi as an example. Usagi did nothing at the start of the show but scream and cry. But she gained power, she knew how to fight. Chibiusa will gain power, because she is destined to rule after Usagi and become the new Sailor Moon. But she is not weak at all.

Her eyes are red, "therefore she's evil."
Wow…

Really? Red eyes are evil? May I point out that Setsuna’s eyes ARE RED! That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Red eyes do not mean characters are EVIL! It may symbolize evil, but it does mean a character IS EVIL! Chibiusa’s are red because she is the SMALL RABBIT! She and Usagi are from the moon, Naoko-sama modeled her somewhat after a rabbit. Hence her hair style, hence the fact that she is named Chibiusa, hence the fact that her she is shown as a RABBIT IN THE MANGA AT TIMES! Who ever came up with that is a moron.

She "likes" Mamoru

What does that even mean? If mean she likes him as a friend/father, then yes she does. Chibiusa is a daddy’s girl. That was proven in her flashbacks. All little girls seemed to be somewhat attracted to her father at an age. When she runs to the past, she meets Mamoru and is once again attracted to him. But it’s not just because they her future father and daughter. Chibiusa and Mamoru share loneliness. Mamoru was an orphan, losing both his parents and memory at a young age. He doesn’t even know if Mamoru is his real age. So, his been on his own for a while. Chibiusa ran from a place where her parents might be dead as well, and she knows no one she can run for comfort. They know each others been, so for a little girl, Mamoru is comfort.

If we’re talk LOVE now, then no, Chibiusa does not love him like that. Once again, all little girls look up to their father figures when they are small and some times get crushes on them. Now, while that was happening to Chibiusa, she was transformed into something she had always longed for. A woman. So, it would only be right she would want her prince. And that prince at the time just happened Mamoru. Chibiusa couldn’t help it. She was a little girl in a woman’s body. Her mind was still developing. It wasn’t incest because Chibiusa wasn’t aware she was doing something WRONG! She’s not horny incestuous brat. She’s a girl who looked up to her father and got caught up in a confusing time. Plus, if she was in LOVE with Mamoru, would she LOVE Helios to?

She's a tag-a-long to the senshi on their battles, and gets in the way with her weak attacks.

Nooooooo…. Chibiusa wasn’t a tag-a-long. She was in training; she needed to be there to train. And her attacks helped them to give them time with what ever they were doing. Chibiusa never got in the way. Infact, she helped the senshi power up. END OF STORY

Her hair style is silly.

Now that REALLY ISN”T FAIR. Usagi, Queen Serenity, Chibi Chibi, and anyone else part of the Moon linage have the same hairstyle. But Chibiusa’s seems to take it to the next level because it’s not just buns. That’s not fair. Chibiusa is meant to look like a SMALL RABBIT! Hence the eyes and the fact that her buns are somewhat like rabbit ears. But it’s still not right to hate her if there are OTHER characters with the same ‘flaw’ if you even dare call it that.

She’s a little pink whore!

Whoa! WHOA! Back up! Are we speaking of the same sweet little Chibiusa here? Because she isn’t a WHORE! In Sailor, SuperS in general, Chibiusa had many guys that were most likely in to her. Two of which were Helios and Peruru. Now while I will admit Chibiusa kissed both boys, she seems to have a better connection with Helios. Through out SuperS, you see a deep connection between the two and in the MANGA Helios falls in love with Chibiusa’s older self. Neither of them go whoring themselves to ANYONE! I also think Chibiusa likes Peruru as a friend and the kiss was JUST friendly. Also, Helios/Chibiusa happened in the manga. Peruru’s story, who’s character design was made by Naoko-sama, was only a movie and it is never said when it took place. We do ASSUME it happened after SuperS and Helios is long gone. So in general, Chibiusa is a sweet little girl who is able to make people love her easily. She is not a WHORE in anyway. If she was, then so would Usagi seeing that she has, oh say Mamoru, Seiya, Haruka(in a way), and Demand running after her.

Over all Chibiusa is majorly abused by BOTH the characters of Sailor Moon and fans. Her personality and story is unique, and Chibiusa herself is just too cute. In fact, she’s SO cute, fans dislike her. But don’t worry, Chibiusa is loved and well always be loved.



Next is our favorite Fire Bird, Sailor Mars. Due to the fact that I can not find hate reasons on her, I’m just going to make this into big rant. Bear with me.

So while we’re on this, I will say that growing up, I did dislike Rei greatly. It was only when I picked up the manga did I start liking her. That being said, lets start with Rei, Usagi, and Mamoru.

One of the many reasons people dislike Rei is because of how she acts with Usagi. She’s mean, temperamental, and rude towards her supposed ‘leader’ and ‘rincess’. But it is very hard to work with some who is a major spoiled, lazy, crybaby like Usagi. Does that mean she hates Usagi? No. She and Usagi have the closest relationship in the anime. When ever Usagi’s in doubt, she pushes her forward. When she cries, she comforts her. For god sakes, she DIED for her TWICE! How can you do something like that for someone you despise? It’s for hard in my opinion. And in all versions of Sailor Moon, Rei goes into the fact she never really had any friends up until she met Usagi and everyone. So it’s only fair to say that she doesn’t work will with others. But when it counts, Mars would gladly take a bullet for her princess and STILL pushes her forward because she believes in her.

Now, onto her and Mamoru. Is Rei backstabbing. Oh HELL NOZ! And I hate it when people make her have an affair with Mamoru in fanfics just to make HER or Mamoru look bad! Rei is not like that! First off, in anime doesn’t REI like Yuuichirou after Usagi and Mamoru get together? Why would she try and break them apart then. And let’s look at this if we’re referring to Rei dating Mamoru in the classics. Anytime we see Usagi and Mamoru together during that period, they DESPISE each other. Rei, on the other hand, liked Mamoru and decided to ask him out seeing that he was single. Did she KNOW he was Endymion? No. Did she know he was Tuxedo Kamen? NO! She thought he was a cute guy and went for it. There’s no problem with that. I wouldn’t get pissed off if one my friend dated a guy I hated. And they broke off before Mamoru and Usagi fell in love again.

Another thing is Rei’s personality in the manga. She’s to perfect for some people. Handling being a Sailor Senshi, top of her class, a Shinto Priestess, beautiful and graceful, and not mention the rest of team, people would think she would be a mess. Rei’s personality does not call for that, though. As Mars, she is able to have patience and grace while being under pressure. If she can not handle every day life, then she can not be a SENSHI to a princess. Simply as that. Ami can do it. Haruka and Michiru can do it. So why can’t she? She has flaws just like them. She is not perfect in any way.

Anime vs. Manga. Once again, I DID dislike Anime Rei. Not anymore now that I look at her character. But I still don’t like district change from graceful, cold, and man hating Rei to boy-crazed, hyper, and temperamental Rei. In manga, Rei had a very interesting past. Her mother die when she was young and she hated politician father who seemed not to care for her. Rei ended up going to Grandfather’s house and from then on thought men were stupid and untrustworthy. In anime, we see NOTHING of this. Rei says nothing about her past or her parents. Instead we see her with dreams of leaving the shrine behind and going off to be famous and getting married. I disliked that very much. Maybe because Sailor Moon was done by more male animation team was the reason why Rei’s the way she, but I don’t like it. Does that mean I hate her? No. She’s still a wonderful person with awesome powers and should be redeemed as such!

And that is it for my rant. Later on, I’m probably going to do an over all view Sailor Moon Manga vs. Anime because I despise the anime to the fullest. Until then, flame me for this, people who dislike Chibiusa and Rei. Because guess what? I just to give to shits! Especially if you can’t give me a good reason! That or just leave comments of kindness!
